UK drive: The Skoda Kodiaq vRS isn’t all that sporty, but that’s not bad

15/03/2019

What is it? This is Skoda looking at vehicles such as the Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5 and saying ‘nope, our way is better’. Skoda is already very good at making SUVs – its Kodiaq and Karoq are serious class contenders – while its vRS performance division has a small but very loyal following. The obvious solution, then, is to combine the two and let vRS loose on the largest car on Skoda’s range – the Kodiaq SUV.

First Drive: Mazda’s 3 reaches a new level

21/02/2019

What is it? C-segment cars continue to be a popular choice for UK buyers, but it’s arguably a tough class to crack for manufacturers. With the latest Ford Focus still flying off the shelves like those before it, the Volkswagen Golf proving to soldier on, and the patriotic among us buying Vauxhall Astras in their droves, it’s going to take a real gem for the rest of the industry to break into it.

First drive: An old nameplate revived for the 2019 Toyota Corolla

15/02/2019

What is it? “No more boring cars” was the bold proclamation of Toyota president Akio Toyoda last year, but even the brand’s executives will admit the Corolla nameplate doesn’t exactly stir the soul. UK Drive: The Volkswagen California Ocean could be the ultimate weekend getaway vehicle

08/01/2019

What is it? Holidays within the UK have been growing in popularity during recent years, with people opting for a ‘staycation’ rather than travelling abroad more than ever before. An easy way to do this is with a camper van and the Volkswagen California – which we’re testing here – is one of the most sought-after. Though many people opt for a larger motorhome, the compact size and car-like driving experience has pushed people towards the California in their droves, despite a relatively high list price.
