Missing north-east man Paul Smith traced safe and well


A missing north-east man has been traced safe and well. Paul Smith was reported missing from the St Margaret’s Crescent area of Lossiemouth yesterday. However officers have confirmed the 21-year-old has been found safe and well.

Lifeboat called out after vessel runs aground at North-east coastal town


Rescuers have been called out after a boat ran aground in Lossiemouth The RNLI said lifeboats were launched from Buckie and Burghead at about 5.50pm. A Police Scotland spokesman said: “All we know at the moment is that a small boat has run aground at Lossiemouth. Nobody has been injured.”

Suspected war bomb discovered near cemetery


A war bomb is thought to have been discovered near a cemetery. Police were alerted to the device near Oakenheads Cemetery in Lossiemouth at 9.50am. A Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit is expected to arrive in the area at 4pm. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A member of the public originally alerted us.”
