Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Liverpool’s defeat at Hull showed just what a “big challenge” awaits his side at the KC Stadium tomorrow night. The Gunners head to East Yorkshire aiming to keep up the pressure on Manchester City in the battle for second place. Hull, though, are also scrapping for points at the other end of the table, having given themselves a much-needed confidence boost with a 1-0 victory over the Reds last Tuesday night to build momentum from their impressive away win at Crystal Palace. “They had two great performances when they were in quite a bad situation, but they had two amazing results,” said Wenger. “Hull have just beaten Liverpool at home, so we are warned that we will face a big challenge there.” The Arsenal manager believes unlike the championship race, the battle for survival will go to the wire, with the likes of Aston Villa, Leicester and Sunderland all having won on Saturday to leave only two points between 14th and the final relegation place. “It is very difficult to predict who will go down. It looks very, very tight, so up to 35 points, everybody can have fear,” said Wenger. Arsenal have a near full squad to chose from, with full-back Matheiue Debuchy doubtful because of a hamstring problem. Wenger has been afforded the luxury of being able to start with the likes of England quartet Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck all on the bench in recent weeks. While inevitably some players are left frustrated at a lack of game time, the Arsenal manager is pleased to finally have fierce competition in all positions. Wenger added: “If you ask me if I am happy with the depth of the squad, I say certainly yes because I have many international top quality players who are not even in the squad on Saturdays when everyone is available, and that has not been the case for many years.”
