The Scottish Greens are pushing to remove an exemption from new livestock worry legislation for hunting dogs.
Scottish ministers will seek to increase the punishment for the offence of livestock worrying so that animal owners could be sentenced to up to a year behind bars or fined a maximum of £40,000.
The bill would increase the maximum penalty for livestock worrying by dogs to a fine of up to £5,000 or imprisonment for six months for owners.
