Hamilton’s Ioannis Skondras has been handed a five-match ban following his red card against Ross County.

The defender was shown a straight red after an angry confrontation towards the end of Accies’ 3-2 win over County in December.

Skondras has already served two games of the suspension, and will now miss Accies’ next two games against Motherwell and Hearts after admitting to a Scottish Football Association charge, while there is a suspended one-match ban should he see red again this season.

The Greek defender was sent off for violent conduct after appearing to throw punches at Staggies duo Kenny van der Weg and Chris Routis in the closing stages of the bad-tempered encounter and was subsequently cited under disciplinary rule 202 for excessive misconduct.

The incident sparked an on-field scrum between the two sides which saw both clubs charged for failing to control their players.

Hamilton, who had already been warned about their conduct following an incident at Tynecastle earlier in the season, have been fined £2,500 by the SFA while Ross County were fined £2,000.
