DONS boss Derek McInnes today asked the Red Army to help them rescue their place in Europe.
A 2-0 defeat by La Liga cracks Real Sociedad in San Sebastian has left the Dons on the brink of exiting the Europa League at the third qualifying round stage.
Defiant McInnes is refusing to throw in the towel in the tie and believes their hopes of shocking the Spaniards will be enhanced if the Dons fans turn out in force for Thursday’s return clash at Pittodrie.
McInnes said: “We had almost 500 fans with us in Spain and the noise they made was fantastic.
“I would like to thank every one of them for the backing they gave us right through the game. They made one hell of a racket to keep the team going in what was clearly a very testing match.
“If we’ve got that tenfold at Pittodrie and the place is rocking you just never know what could happen.
“We are going to require every advantage to overcome Sociedad.”
