TEENAGE DONS midfielder Cammy Smith today admitted the race to finish best of the rest in the Scottish Premiership could go right to the wire.
Despite the frustration of a 0-0 draw away to Inverness the Dons remain in second spot in the Premiership.
Victory over St Johnstone on Saturday would guarantee they finish at least third and secure a place in Europe next season.
Aberdeen aim to finish runners-up though for the first time since 1994. Smith accepts the battle to do that could go down to the final game of the season against third placed Motherwell on Sunday, May 11.
But he warned the Dons are up for that.
The 18-year-old said: “Out of all the teams going for second we are sitting in the best position.
“I would rather be in our shoes than the others.
“It is going to be close and could go right to the wire to finish runners-up, but we are ready for the challenge.
