Bob McHugh scored a goal in each half as Morton defeated Inverness 2-1 at Cappielow.
McHugh got Morton off to a great start in the sixth minute when Peter Grant’s lobbed ball found the forward, who in turn dinked it over the goalkeeper.
Morton had the ball in the net again two minutes later but it was ruled out after Reece Lyon was adjudged to have fouled Inverness’ James Vincent.
Ton goalkeeper Sam Ramsbottom produced an outstanding save to deny James Keatings in the 16th minute, moments after Carl Tremarco also went close for Caley Thistle when his header hit the bar.
Inverness did find the equaliser in the 27th minute as Mitchell Curry scored from Jordan White’s knock down.
McHugh edged Morton back ahead with nine minutes left on the clock when he capitalised on a mistake by Coll Donaldson and slotted the ball through the keeper’s legs.
