Alan Trouten scored an 89th-minute equaliser to earn Alloa a 2-2 draw at in-form Inverness following a dramatic finish at Caledonian Stadium.
Caley Thistle had looked set to follow up last weekend’s 3-0 Challenge Cup win over Alloa with another victory when goals from Carl Tremarco and Jordan White overturned an early opener from Liam Buchanan.
But Trouten struck at the end to deny Inverness an eighth win in their last 10 competitive matches and the chance to go top of the Ladbrokes Championship.
Alloa, who beat leaders Dundee United in their last league match, needed just five minutes to take the lead when Buchanan fired past Mark Ridgers to finish off a fine team move.
Roddy MacGregor and White were unable to make the most of chances to level before the break and Alloa almost made it 2-0 in 50th minute when Buchanan was denied by Ridgers.
However, it was Inverness who troubled the scorers next as Tremarco fired in a superb equaliser on the hour, the experienced defender finding the top corner of Jamie MacDonald’s net.
Tremarco then turned provider five minutes from time to set up White for a headed goal that looked set to decide the match.
But there was still a late twist in the tale as Trouten levelled, before Inverness were denied a last-gasp winner when substitute James Keatings’ free-kick hit the crossbar
