Rescuers stood down for night as River Tay search fails to find missing man

Search teams looking for a man who fell into the River Tay have been stood down overnight.

Emergency services were called after the man was seen falling into the water near the Queens Bridge in Perth at around 4am on Saturday.

Police, the coastguard and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been at the scene all day but were stood down as light failed with no sign of the missing person.

RNLI lifeboats from Broughty Ferry and the coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick were also involved in the search, which police said would recommence at first light on Sunday.
