Woman, 85, dies in Aberdeen after car hits tree

An elderly woman has died after her car crashed into a tree in Aberdeen.

The 85-year-old was driving a blue Vauxhall Corsa which collided with a silver Vauxhall Astra in Provost Fraser Drive before leaving the road and crashing into a tree.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at about 11.50am on Tuesday.

No-one else was injured and p olice are appealing for any witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw the cars before the incident.

Sergeant Rob Warnock said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has sadly died at this time.

“The road has now reopened and we would like to thank members of the public for their patience while the road was closed to allow for collision investigation.

“We would appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information to get in touch with us.”
