A man has been charged with murder after a body was found in a car in South Ayrshire.
Michael Thomson, 46, was discovered dead in a blue Ford Fiesta parked on a lay-by on the A77 near Dalmilling Golf Course in Ayr.
It was reported to police at about 6pm on Saturday July 25 and was initially treated as unexplained.
Police Scotland are now treating the incident as murder and have charged a 54-year-old in connection with the death.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan McAlpine, senior investigating officer, said: “I would like to thank the public for their response to our appeals for information during our investigation.
“I’d also like to thank the local community for their patience during the part closure of the A77 while we conducted enquiries.”
The man is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Thursday.
