THE best curries in the North-east have been revealed at a glittering ceremony.
The second annual Aberdeen’s Best Curry Awards was held last night at the Beach Ballroom
EastEnders star Preeya Kalidas was the guest of honour and capped off the evening with a two-song performance.
The charity event is organised by Aberdeen Lions.
More than 300 people attended the glitzy ceremony.
India On The Green in Ballater was crowned the overall winner in the North-east.
The best Aberdeenshire restaurant went to Tandoori Haven in Stonehaven, while the best in Aberdeen city was won by Light Of Bengal on Rose Street.
Co-owner Noor Ahmed, also picked up the Rising Star award.
The Evening Express Readers’ Choice award went to Shri Bheema’s.
Chef of the Year went to Shaikh Nazrul from Shri Bheema’s.
Last year’s grand winner, Cafe Bombay, based in Peterculter won the Socially Responsible award after raising nearly 800 for charity.
In the takeaway categories, Eastern Eye in Cornhill won best city eatery, while Kintore Tandoori scooped the award for Aberdeenshire.
The event also raised thousands for charities Mental Health Aberdeen and The British Asian Trust.
A third charity will be chosen by the winning restaurant.
