Trawlermen star hits out over Scottish independence

SCOTTISH independence would hole the North-east fishing industry below the waterline, claims the Trawlermen star Jimmy Buchan.

The Peterhead skipper was set to attend a meeting between the UK Fisheries Minister George Eustice and the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation today.

And Mr Buchan said he was totally against the Scottish Government’s plans for independence.

He said: “One of the SNP’s biggest failings is wanting to be independent from a parliament where we have influence.

“Alex Salmond wants us further shackled to an unelected, bureaucratic system in the EU that we can’t influence.”
