THREE new Super Pumas have been built to transport North Sea offshore workers.
It comes as Airbus revealed that all the gearbox shafts of the UK’s fleet have been replaced.
As previously reported in the Evening Express, all but two of the Super Puma aircraft needed to be retrofitted with bevel wheel vertical shafts.
Now the company formerly Eurocopter has confirmed all 26 of the EC225’s gearbox shafts in Aberdeen have been replaced.
And all of the North Sea fleet, 49 in total, have new shafts.
Andrew Dettl, customer support director for Airbus, also confirmed today three new EC225 aircraft were recently delivered.
He said: “We are delivering new aircraft all the time.
“The three are new builds from the factory and are used for crew change missions to offshore installations.”
