Police are appealing for information after thieves targeted three homes in Portlethen.
Officers received reports of entry being forced to properties at Heather Place, Bracken Road and Clashfarquhar Crescent while the owners were out.
Jewellery worth a low four-figure sum was stolen from one property.
Extensive enquiries have been ongoing to trace those responsible, and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
DC Emma Wright, who is leading the investigation, said: “Crimes of this nature are rare in this particular area so to have three in such a short space of time is extremely disappointing.
“A huge amount of proactive work is carried out on a daily basis right across the North-east to ensure you don’t become a victim of crime however it is crucial you still remain vigilant and ensure your property is locked and secure at all times. Some thieves will go out of their way to force entry, however, others simply try doors until they find one unlocked. Please don’t make it easy for them.
“Enquiries are ongoing into these break-ins however I would ask anyone who was in any of the areas in question over the last week and saw suspicious people or activity to please get in touch if you haven’t spoken to police already. You can call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.
“I would also ask anyone who is offered jewellery for sale matching the images provided to contact us as soon as possible.”
