A CALL was today made to ban the sale and usage of so-called legal highs in Aberdeen.
Councillor Ross Thomson said he was in discussions with local authority chiefs over what they could do.
It follows a similar move by The City of Lincoln Council in England, whose councillors voted earlier this year to use powers under the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) a new type of power introduced by the government to deal with antisocial behaviour to try to stop people taking legal highs in the area.
But a council official has said Aberdeen City Council does not have powers.
Councillor Ross Thomson, who has campaigned for stricter measures against the substances, said this needs to be reviewed.
