Elon Musk’s Boring Company has proposed to build a 3.6-mile long tunnel for high-speed transportation to LA’s Dodger Stadium.
The Dugout Loop would help ease congestion at the home ground of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, using autonomous electric pods capable of travelling between 125 to 150 miles per hour.
Each pod will carry between eight and 16 passengers, transferring them to the stadium in under four minutes, for as little as $1 per ride.
Local major Eric Garcetti welcomed the idea, saying: “Always exciting to see innovative ideas like the proposed Dugout Loop to Dodgers Stadium that could help ease congestion on our roads and make our most iconic destinations more accessible to everyone.”
The Boring Company is mulling over three possible departure points to the west of the stadium, that would help baseball fans and concertgoers alike.
Musk’s firm wants to install concrete “shelves” that would act as a guideway for electric skates, carrying the pods through an illuminated underground tunnel.
In May, the Tesla and SpaceX founder revealed that drilling work on his first tunnel project in the city was almost complete, pending final regulatory approvals before it becomes operational.
