Citroen has revealed full pricing and specification details for its new C5 Aircross SUV – a rival for the likes of the Seat Ateca, Kia Sportage and Peugeot 3008.
The new C5 Aircross starts from £23,225 for a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol model in entry-level ‘Feel’ trim – one of three trims and three engines available.
Kicking off proceedings on the engine front is the aforementioned 1.2. It offers 128bhp and comes paired with a six-speed manual gearbox – a familiar combination already used across the PSA Group’s Peugeot, Citroen and Vauxhall brands. There’s also a 177bhp 1.6-litre petrol on offer, mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Diesel fans can choose from a 1.6-litre BlueHDi unit in two states of tune – 128bhp or 177bhp. The lower-powered unit is available with the same manual or automatic gearboxes as the petrol, whereas the top diesel is automatic-only.
Of particular note is Citroen’s Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension system – standard on all models and a homage to hydraulically suspended Citroens of old.
They’re available across three trim levels, named Feel, Flair, and Flair Plus. As standard, all cars get an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto phone connectivity and a reversing camera. Satellite navigation is standard on Flair and Flair Plus.
Also on offer is a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and Citroen’s ConnectedCam – a built-in dashcam that sits behind the rear-view mirror. There’s plenty of safety equipment on offer, too – all models feature autonomous emergency braking, active lane departure warning and blind-spot monitoring, while a semi-autonomous ‘Highway Driver Assist’ system can be specced.
Top-end kit on higher models includes a panoramic opening glass roof and wireless smartphone charging, as well as the Grip Control off-road system, which shuffles power between the two front wheels to aid traction.
Befitting the car’s funky looks, there are lots of personalisation choices. Seven hues for the main body are available, with an optional black roof and three ‘colour packs’. There are also three varieties of interior ambience.
Orders for the C5 Aircross can be taken from December 3, with first deliveries starting early in 2019. As mentioned, pricing starts from £23,225 for a 1.2-litre PureTech Feel model, rising to £25,325 and £27,725 for the same powertrain in Flair and Flair Plus trims. The range tops out at £32,725 for a 177bhp diesel automatic variant in Flair Plus trim.
