Audience figures for the X Factor have shown a dip as the ITV talent contest’s final begins to loom.
An average of 4.8 million viewers tuned in to Saturday night’s George Michael-themed live episode, compared to last week’s even five million.
A peak of 5.4 million viewers – compared to last week’s 5.7 million – switched on as duo Jack Remington and Joel Fishel were eliminated from the competition, and Harry Styles returned for a special performance on the stage that first brought him fame with boy band One Direction.
The numbers were once again dwarfed by those for Strictly Come Dancing over on BBC One, which drew in more than double the amount of viewers.
Following the unexpected elimination of show frontrunner Aston Merrygold last weekend, the dance contest saw a slight fall in figures, attracting an average of 10.3 million viewers, compared to last week’s 10.5 million.
This includes a peak audience of 11.3 million viewers, compared to 11.4 million last Saturday.
Strictly Come Dancing’s results show will air on BBC One at 7.20pm on Sunday, while the X Factor continues on ITV at 7.25pm.
