A dramatic first-look trailer for the fourth series of Black Mirror has been released, giving fans a glimpse into Charlie Brooker’s six latest tales.
The clip promises a fresh wave of sex, science and horror as it reveals the titles for each episode, including Arkangel, Black Museum, Hang The DJ, Metalhead, Crocodile and USS Callister.
Each story, which will air on Netflix, will have a different director, with actor Jodie Foster taking on Arkangel.
Other directors include Colm McCarthy, John Hillcoat, Tim Van Patten, David Slade and Toby Haynes.
Joining the cast for the latest run of Brooker’s hit cult show are Maxine Peake, George Blagden, Douglas Hodge and Kiran Sonia Sawar.
Marking the trailer’s release on Friday, Brooker and Black Mirror producer Annabel Jones attended the Edinburgh International Television Festival where they spoke about the filming process.
Asked if he worried the dark content ever went too far, Brooker described one of his earlier and most famous episodes, which involved the (fictional) prime minister having sex with a pig, as a “baptism of fire”.
Commenting on where the ideas come from, he continued: “We don’t tend to look at the news … it tends to stem from a comic ‘what if’ idea, that’s where the ideas tend to come from.”
Fans have already taken to Twitter to share their excitement after watching the new clip, with one commenting: “IM SCREAMING THE BEST SHOW IS BACK.”
Another added: “I AM SO READY FOR THIS,” but Daniel Rosney insisted: “Nothing will beat the pig.”
An official release date has yet to be set, but the trailer promises the new episodes will be “coming soon”.
