Rescuers based in the North-east were called out twice yesterday after receiving reports of emergencies.
An RNLI crew in Peterhead launched a search vessel at just before 1.30pm after the Coastguard reported an empty lifejacket and debris off Rattray Head.
After a two-hour search, the crew recovered the lifejacket, which had fallen from a fishing boat.
At just after 10.30pm on Saturday, an RNLI crew in Buckie launched a search of the coast after a mayday call was made over the radio.
A Coastguard spokesman said: “After a two-hour search of the area where the call related to, nothing of note was found and the crew returned to shore.”
A Peterhead RNLI spokesman said: “Peterhead Lifeboat is always interested to hear from anyone wishing to help save lives at sea by joining the fundraising team, or the crew.
