The weekend’s impending end had leeched the motivation from me to prepare a Sunday roast and I instead dialled in a curry.
Royal Masala came recommended and my partner and I were impressed by their sharpish service.
Our modhu murgh chicken chicken (£8.50) and curry and masala burnt green chicken (£8.95) mains arrived swiftly along with a house special rice (£3.95), a peshwari naan (£3.95) and a bag of poppadoms (95p).
Both dishes provided the lift we were looking for.
The burnt green chicken took pride of place being warmly spiced, well-balanced and featuring a rich smokiness.
The naan featured a pleasant, but not overpowering sweetness.
One rice proved enough to see our bellies happily grow and our clean plates said it all.
A top curry to match excellent service. Capable of banishing Sunday blues.
