Aberdeen is littered with Belhaven pubs and every one has the same menu – but it doesn’t mean the food tastes as good wherever you go.
Quality and service can vary wildly from bar to bar, but it turns out the Four Mile Inn is one of the nicer ones.
Arriving we were greeted at the door and quickly told that unlike most of their brother and sister pubs they provide table service – a nice touch, which saved me having to undertake the potentially arduous 30ft meander to the bar.
After a quick perusal of the menu we both opted for the rump steak sizzler (£11.69).
A fine cut of beef on a hot metal plate on top of fried onions and pepper, smothered in peppercorn sauce and cheese.
Served with a side of chips it was a pretty good plate of food – don’t get me wrong it’s not Porterhouse quality, but it was better than expected.
My dining companion opted for a side of garlic ciabatta with hers – which was surprisingly delicious.
