Aberdeen Lynx head coach and player Barry Carnegie has warned the job is only half done after their 8-3 win over Edinburgh Capitals.
The Lynx hope to make their first playoff finals weekend after four goals from Jordan Leyden and two each for Mark Laing and Iain Malcolm gave them the five-goal advantage ahead of the quarter-final second leg this weekend.
Carnegie, who played in the win, said: “I’m proud of the spirit and fight that we showed against a very good team.
“We were on the front foot right from the drop of the puck.
“Although we are delighted with the result, the job is only half done and we need do it again next Sunday in Edinburgh to progress to our first playoff finals weekend.
“The fans were tremendous and really got behind the team, for that the players are thankful.”
The Lynx travel to Edinburgh on Sunday for the second leg.
