The biggest wrestling match of the year takes place on Saturday with 20 grapplers entering the annual Regal Rumble match at the Northern Hotel, Aberdeen.
The event is the prelude to WrestleZone’s huge Aberdeen Anarchy supershow at the Beach Ballroom this June.
The winner of the 20-man Battle Royale is set to challenge for the Undisputed Championship at the showpiece summer supershow.
Saturday’s rumble bout will see the North-east grapplers engage in a fight to be the last man standing, with the winner in line to face champion Scotty Swift at the ballroom on June 4. Of the 20 challengers, there are many familiar faces, but among the favourites is former two-time winner Crusher Craib.
The monstrous 6ft 6inch Creator Of Carnage has proven he can outlast all others and is determined to score a hat-trick of wins.
Crusher said: “I am going into this match against 19 other grapplers with a huge advantage – I’ve won this before, not once, but twice.
“It is my goal to be back in the main event in June, and I am ready to crush anyone who gets in my way.
“Everyone else in this match is going to have a hard time stopping me as I need to be back in the main event at Aberdeen Anarchy.”
While Crusher stands alongside other heavyweight contenders such as Fife’s Johnny Lions and Aberdeen’s Aspen Faith, there are plenty of underdogs in the field of 20.
From 5ft 4inch Glaswegian Lou King Sharp to masked grappler Blue Thunder, the field is packed with a variety of personalities.
However, one man who holds an advantage is Shawn Johnson of the Sterling Oil group, and the former four-time tag team champion wants to make an impression in the singles game.
He added: “For too long now I have been underestimated, but the Regal Rumble is my chance to get a title match at the Beach Ballroom.
“Going into the rumble match last gives me a huge advantage. I’ve got a game plan going in and while I’m not the biggest wrestler, I plan on proving I am the best.”
The Regal Rumble event will also feature grapplers such as the exciting Solar and tag team champions Mr P & Kaden Garrick.
WrestleZone host Martyn Clunes expects a fun-filled night of action but admits the rumble is too hard to predict.
He added: “Everything is a bit unpredictable right now and it really is any man’s to win.
“I know that everyone in WrestleZone wants to main event the Beach Ballroom, and this is the way to secure it.
“We’ll see who has the bottle to last and top the bill alongside WWE legends Tatanka and Carlito this June.”
Admission is pay-at-the-door only priced £12 for adults and £8 for under 14s. Doors open at 6.15pm with the action underway from 7pm.
