Former Open champion Paul Lawrie is set to face his old foe Jean van de Velde in his annual challenge match at his golf centre south of the Granite City.
Aberdonian Lawrie will take on the Frenchman on Monday, July 18 (1pm).
Lawrie famously beat Van de Velde and American Justin Leonard in a three-man play-off at Carnoustie in 1999 to lift the famous Claret Jug. Van de Velde carded a disastrous triple-bogey seven at the 72nd hole, which included a visit to the Barry Burn, dashing his hopes of outright victory.
Lawrie said: “Jean is playing in the British Seniors later that week. I’m delighted he has agreed to come.”
It is Lawrie’s fourth challenge match. Entrance will be free.
