Aberdeen Warriors will host Northumbria University in the first round of the Challenge Cup.
The city’s rugby league side were tied against the students during the prestigious tournament’s first-round draw at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.
The game will take place in Aberdeen on January 30, with the pitch to be confirmed due to a fixture clash at Woodside Sports Complex.
It marks the third time the Warriors have taken part in the Challenge Cup.
The team’s head coach Craig Parslow said: “This is the first time that the Scottish representatives have drawn a home game in round one of the Challenge Cup.
“To have this game come to the city is a great honour and opportunity to give our players the best chance in getting to the second round.
“I know all the players, staff and supporters are excited to have this game here in Aberdeen.”
He added: “Northumbria are a good side. We’ll be doing our homework.”
