Aberdeen Ladies’ Bayley Hutchison has been named Scottish Women’s Premier League player of the month for October.
Goalscorer Bayley, despite only turning 15 last month, was part of the Reds side which narrowly missed salvation from the drop.
The Dons will play in Scottish Women’s Football League Division One North next term.
They were relegated, even though they took 14 points from their last 18 matches.
Hutchison said: “I’m really pleased to have won this award.
“It’s obviously disappointing that we couldn’t avoid relegation but I think we feel like we gave everything we could to pull off a massive shock.
“To be so close to safety and fall short was very tough.
“There wasn’t much we could do though.
“In the final part of the season, we only lost to the top two sides in the league and drew with Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale away from home.”
In the end, after a bad start and –later reduced – points deduction for fielding an ineligible player, Aberdeen Ladies were one point from safety.
On getting the chance to play first team football at such a young age, Hutchison, who netted nine times in the last eight games including a brace in the final match against Hearts, added: “It was an exciting opportunity.
“I have confidence and that was rewarded with the chance to play at that level.
“To score just over a goal a game was really pleasing.
“I certainly feel I coped at that level, despite my age, and I played my part in helping the team get results.
“Hopefully I can now help the club get back to that level straight-away.”
Aberdeen Ladies will play against several other north-east teams in the regional lower division when the new season starts in the spring.
Cove, Westdyke and Dee, among others, will be vying for the crown of the region’s top club.
Aberdeen Ladies are set to be boosted as talks continue for the adult ladies team to be absorbed by Aberdeen FC.
This move could see a new permanent head coach installed, with the Pittodrie club’s clout helping the women retain top talent like Hutchison, who in the past might have quickly been snapped up by one of the wealthier sides down south.
Hutchison beat out Hayley Lauder (Glasgow City), Lisa Swanson (FC Kilmarnock) and Rhianna Tweedie (St Johnstone) to take the SWPL player of the month prize.
