Former Undisputed Wrestlezone champion Damien admits the odds are stacked against him at Regal Rumble … but he still aims to come out on top.
Damien, aka The Revolutionary, will enter first in the high-adrenaline, 25-man match at the Northern Hotel, Aberdeen, tonight.
A place in the main Undisputed Championship event at Aberdeen Anarchy, at the Beach Ballroom on September 1, will go to the last man in the ring in the over-the-top showdown.
Damien was deposed as Wrestlezone’s Undisputed champion by current holder Shawn Johnson and is determined to get the belt back.
He said: “The odds may be stacked against me, but I want to win this so bad.
“I know I’m going to have to fight to stay in but I’m determined to lift that trophy and go on to regain the Undisputed Championship.
“Going in first leaves me with no surprises, as I know I’ll need to outlast everyone else to win. I’m ready to do that.”
To celebrate Wrestlezone’s 10th anniversary year, the Aberdeen-based group have expanded the field with 25 grapplers battling it out.
Former winners Crusher Craib, Scotty Swift, Jack Jester and Bryan Tucker will all be looking to repeat their glories and seal an Undisputed Championship bout at Aberdeen Anarchy.
Tri-Counties Champion Aspen Faith has also been confirmed for the Regal Rumble as he bids to become a two-belt champion.
One of Scottish wrestling’s hottest rising stars, Faith said: “This year’s Regal Rumble is my opportunity to finally make it to the main event at Aberdeen Anarchy and become the first double champion.
“I’m determined to make that a reality, starting tonight.”
The biggest match on the north-east wrestling calendar, the Regal Rumble also boasts top Glasgow stars Lewis Girvan, Kreiger and Lou King Sharp.
Fans’ favourite Mr P has also been confirmed for the rumble and insists he can flourish amid the chaos.
Mr P said: “This is exactly the type of environment I thrive in.
“Bodies flying one way and the other, a real chaotic environment.
“I’m embracing that and I want to be the one who wins this year’s Regal Rumble.”
Newcomer Nathan North is determined to mark his arrival with a shock victory.
North said: “This year’s rumble is going to be a vintage one and I’m going to make sure I’m the last man standing.”
Also on the bill is a “no disqualification” showdown between long-time rivals Scotty Swift and Crusher Craib.
The Rejected will defend their Wrestlezone Tag Team championship belt against Lou King Sharp and Krieger.
WrestleZone host Martyn Clunes said: “The Rumble event is always one of our most popular nights and there is a lot at stake for all grapplers.
“This showpiece event will once again provide a great night of family friendly wrestling action like no other.
“There will also be a chance to see some new faces and meet the wrestlers.”
