Wrestlezone fans’ favourite Mr P has vowed to put his career on the line tonight in the bid for Tri-Counties title glory.
It is all or nothing for Mr P in tonight’s title grudge match against holder Zach Dynamite at Danestone Community Centre.
Mr P today confirmed if he does not take the belt from bitter rival Dynamite at Christmas Chaos, he will quit wrestling for good – on the day he celebrates his 40th birthday.
The dramatic decision to put his future in the balance was taken by Mr P to add an edge to his title bid and it is a gamble he intends to work.
He said: “I am putting my career on the line as I have agreed to walk away from wrestling if I don’t win.
“It was my decision. At the start of 2018 I set a goal of winning the Tri-Counties championship and this is my last chance.
“In every match I have had nothing to lose.
“I gave it my all but it has not worked out for me this year.
“So I have had to change my mindset and by saying I will retire if I don’t win, I now have everything to lose, instead of nothing to lose.
“I am confident I won’t be retiring.
“It is just a different form of motivation that I need to do for myself.
“I decided to change my strategy with the thinking that if I put everything on the line, I will push that little bit further, as I know if I do not win the title I am done, I am gone.
“So I have to win this match. I just know I am going to be giving a little bit extra to the fans of Wrestlezone and to Zach Dynamite.”
Holder Zach Dynamite has also raised the stakes for the clash by increasing the time limit to 15 minutes.
The showdown is the climax of months of bad blood after Mr P’s friend turned on him during a title clash to link up with Dynamite.
Mr P said: “My previous two championship matches have been controversial as the first was a time limit draw and in the second my best friend Bradley Evans turned on me.
“Now there is a no disqualification Christmas Brawl and, with my career being on the line, I know I have to give absolutely everything I have.
“If I don’t that is me done and that scares me.
“Zach Dynamite doesn’t scare me.
“Not being able to wrestle again scares me and that is motivation enough to finally get the title.”
Tonight’s match is not only Mr P’s 40th birthday, it is also five years to the day since he made his competitive Wrestlezone debut against Johnny Lions.
Since then he has gone on to lift the Wrestlezone tag team title but is coveting singles’ gold by seeing off “young punk” Dynamite.
He said: “Winning the Tri-Counties championship would mean everything to me.
“It would be my first singles championship, which is a goal I have had for a long time.
“If I can take the belt, all the hard work and sacrifice will be worthwhile.
“It is a grudge match as Zach Dynamite is a young punk who thinks he is the man and needs to be put in his place.
“Going for a belt is some way to spend a 40th birthday, but I aim to get the victory.”
Since that debut in 2013, Mr P has become one of the most popular wrestlers with fans in the Wrestlezone roster. He aims to secure the belt to thank his supporters for their backing.
He said: “As much as this is about me reaching my goals, it is about giving back to my fans who have given me so much over the years. They have been with me through the ups and downs.
“Without them, Mr P is just another wrestler. “
In the other matches at Christmas Chaos, Damien will defend the Undisputed Title against Crusher Craib and the returning BT Gunn in a triple threat match.
The WrestleZone Tag Team Titles are on the line as the Kings of Catch defend against the duo of Scotty Swift and Johnny Lions.
Rising star Ryan Riley faces off against Jason Reed. Former tag team champions The Rejected collide with Alan Sterling and Andy Wild.
