John Henderson produced a sensational performance to draw 6-6 with world No 1 Michael van Gerwen at the Premier League darts event in Aberdeen.
The Highlander was piped onto the stage at the AECC and received a magnificent reception from the 4000 capacity crowd who backed their hero to the hilt.
Hendo didn’t disappoint his fans. The Huntly thrower rallied from 3-0 down early on to win six of the next nine legs and secure a draw against the three-time world champion and reigning Premier League champion.
He averaged 97.38 and hit six 180s. Henderson was in the Premier League event in Aberdeen due to fellow Scot Gary Anderson’s withdrawal due to a back injury with a different ‘contender’ playing in each of the first nine weeks and Hendo selected for the round in the Granite City.
