Super-middleweight John Docherty has made a sensational professional debut with a knock-out after just 18 seconds.
Docherty, who trained at Byron Boxing ABC before turning pro, stopped Jordan Latimer with a barrage of punches straight from the bell at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.
Latimer went into the fight with a record of two wins from two fights but was left so shaken by Docherty’s barrage that he nodded to his corner to throw in the towel.
Commonwealth bronze medallist Docherty signed for Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing having returned from the Games in Gold Coast.
The 20-year-old southpaw was set to make his debut on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight world title defence last month but the paperwork was not processed in time.
However, he announced himself to the paid ranks with a devastating debut.
