North-east runner Gary Brown has been presented with the jogscotland Achiever of the Year award at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow attended by many of Scotland’s leading athletes.
The jogscotland Meldrum member received his trophy from double Commonwealth games hammer bronze medallist Mark Dry who comes from Burghead.
Brown suffers from stage-five kidney failure and undergoes dialysis three times a week, for five hours at a time.
He joined jogscotland Meldrum after being told he needed to lose weight and improve his fitness to increase his hopes of receiving a kidney transplant.
Despite the exhausting treatment and his variable health, Brown has shown great determination and has completed several 5Kms. He has not only lost weight but gained both confidence and new friends.
