The Evening Express will be the official media partner of the Aberdeen Lynx for the coming season.
The Linx Ice Arena-based side, who play in the Scottish National League (SNL), are gearing up for the start of the 2018/19 campaign.
Fixtures are expected to be announced this week, with matches beginning in September.
For the whole campaign, the Evening Express, in print and online, will be the no.1 place for Lynx news across the age groups, match reports and reaction.
The Evening Express logo will also feature on the club’s jerseys for the forthcoming term.
Lynx chairman Martin Hill said: “I am delighted to enter into partnership with the Evening Express.
“Their coverage of the club over the last few years has been a big help, I am sure, into making the Lynx one of the best-supported ice hockey clubs in Scotland and this new deal will help take that to the next level, featuring not just reports and stories about our SNL side, but also on our junior development programmes as well.
“As a club that is fiercely proud of it’s local roots and location, it makes absolute sense that we partner with a newspaper that shares such an ethos, and I’m sure our fans will look forward to the increased coverage we will receive with excitement.”
Evening Express editor Craig Walker said: “In our newspaper and online, the Evening Express strives to support and promote local sport.
“The Aberdeen Lynx are a real success story, attracting close to 1,000 people to their home games at the Linx Ice Arena and continuing to grow year on year.
“The ice hockey club’s senior side are second only to Aberdeen FC in terms of attendance in the north-east, and they also provide opportunities across the youth age groups.
“This partnership will see continued, unrivalled coverage of the Lynx’s matches and other news and we look forward to working with them throughout the campaign.”
LeMack become side’s main sponsor
The Lynx have announced their main sponsor for the 2018/19 campaign will be LeMack Oilfield Rentals.
The Portlethen-based company’s logo will appear on all of the club’s kits and they will also sponsor the team’s tracksuits until the end of the 2019/20 season.
Lynx chairman Martin Hill said: “We are immensely grateful to Kenny Mack and Davie Hale of LeMack for this extremely generous sponsorship deal, which is a massive boost to the club.
“While we have a fan base that is the envy of some Elite League Ice Hockey Clubs, the club still have to balance the books.
“Last season the club was running teams at Under-12, U14, U16, U20 and SNL, and with costs to the club in terms of coach hire for away games, ice hire for matches and training, purchasing new kit and so on always increasing, sponsorship from local business is a key income stream for the Lynx.
“Sponsoring the Lynx also provides great exposure for local business, with crowds averaging almost 900 people, and over 300 replica shirts featuring our sponsor logos sold last season.
“We are very proud to be associated with LeMack, a company, which, like ourselves, is a local success story – and look forward to this season bringing more success to the Linx Ice Arena”
LeMack take over from two-year main sponsors Petrolink.
LeMack’s Davie Hale said: “We at LeMack Oilfield Rentals Ltd are proud and honoured to be associated with and are the main sponsor for Aberdeen Lynx.”
