Hannah Miley finished fourth in her Olympic 400m individual medley final.
Missing out on a medal by 0.15 seconds, it was a devastating finish for the Inverurie swimmer.
Going into the last 50m, she was in third place and on course for bronze.
But Spaniard Mireia Belmonte Garcia came back to overhaul her and leave Miley outside the medals.
Ranked second in the world, Miley said she had “nothing left” at the end.
She said: “I could see her. I knew she was coming back at me. I gave everything I had.”
The gold medal was won by Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu in a world-record time.
She finished with a time of four minutes 26.36 seconds to clinch the victory.
