Inverurie swimmer Hannah Miley won silver in the women’s 400m individual medley at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Miley had eased to victory in her heat in a time of 4.38.20, with her closest rival England’s Aimee Willmott clocking 4:39.19.
But the Games record-holder from Glasgow 2014 and gold medallist from Delhi and Glasgow just failed to keep up with Willmott, who beat her into second by 0.26secs with a 4:34.90 in the final.
Miley said: “At the age of 28 the fact that I’m still going in the 400 medley is an achievement in itself.
“It was bound to happen at some point when you have a rivalry and somebody so close to you.
“It was an amazing race and it was great to have Aimee there and it brings out the best in
both of us and it was a great race.”
