Former Don Kari Arnason was today in dreamland after helping humiliate England at Euro 2016.
England manager Roy Hodgson quit after his side were beaten 2-1 by Iceland, a country whose 330,000 population is the same as Leicester’s, to record the most embarrassing result in their football history.
England were shamed 1-0 by the USA at the 1950 World Cup finals.
But that was overshadowed by being sent packing from France by the smallest of the 24 nations who qualified for the tournament.
It was, though, a night to remember for Malmo defender and one-time Pittodrie favourite Arnason, who helped set-up the first of Iceland’s goals as they fought back from 1-0 down to record their greatest result ever.
“It all seems like a dream,” said the 33-year-old, who made 33 appearances for Aberdeen in season 2011-12.
