Scotland manager Alex McLeish could be relieved of his duties in the next 24 hours.
The Daily Record reports that former Aberdeen defender McLeish is set to hold talks with SFA Chief Ian Maxwell today and will likely be told of the decision to remove him “from the international firing line” over concerns for the Gothenburg Great’s health.
McLeish’s Dark Blues lost 3-0 to Kazakhstan last week – one of the worst results in the history of the national team – and only managed a 2-0 win over San Marino in a dismal start to Euro 2020 qualifying.
He secured a UEFA Nations League play-off slot with the team – a potential second route to the tournament – at the end of last year.
David Moyes and Steve Clarke have been installed as early front-runners should McLeish go.
