Peterhead boss Jim McInally was left to question the display of referee Steven Reid after their 1-1 draw with Edinburgh City.
The Blue Toon remain two points behind the capital team after it ended all square at Ainslie Park.
And McInally could not understand some of the calls made by Reid.
He said: “It was a strange night. The game was hard enough but the referee added on one minute and 34 seconds.
“Neither manager could believe it. In general it looked like he just wanted out of there. It was bizarre.
“I’m only saying this as I feel I can say anything about referees and nothing will happen to me.
“If Craig Levein and Neil Lennon can say anything then so can I.
“I’ve never known anyone to add on such a short period of time at the end of the game.
“Even when he sent Andy Black off, how he didn’t give a free kick to us on the edge of the box and instead gave us a throw-in I don’t know. It was bizarre.”
McInally believed his side deserved to win and added: “We feel we should have won it. They’ve had one shot at goal and scored from it.
“When we went ahead we could have scored another couple of goals but the one thing about Edinburgh is they never give in.
“They are relentless, they always come back and that is testament to the team and we knew they would keep going, but I feel we should have won.
“Both teams have done terrific this season and while we lost at home we showed there is nothing to stop us from matching Edinburgh.
“It would have been a boost to win but we are in a good place and this is not an easy place to play.
“I don’t think it particularly suits Edinburgh either. We’re disappointed not to win but I suppose both teams will be reasonably happy.”
