Peterhead boss Jim McInally today said striker Rory McAllister let the team down against Ayr United.
The talented striker was shown a straight red card for an alleged elbow on Ayr’s Peter Murphy after just 11 minutes of the game at Balmoor.
The visitors would go on to record a 4-0 victory which sees them leapfrog the Blue Toon into second place in League One with just one game remaining.
While the sending-off hampered Peterhead’s hopes of securing their highest ever finish in the senior ranks, it will also mean McAllister is suspended for at least the first leg of their upcoming Championship play-off semi-final against Ayr.
“Only Rory can answer what happened,” McInally said.
“There is no dispute over it.
“The lad pulled him and he lashed his elbow out to get him off and elbowed him right in the face.
“He let the team down, but I didn’t need to say anything to him as a couple of the players got stuck into him at half-time.”
