Cove Rangers boss John Sheran today refused to say his team are in pole position for the title after Brora Rangers were held to a 1-1 home draw by Inverurie Locos.

Cove moved to just one point behind the defending champions after a 5-0 win over Fort William at Harlaw Park thanks to a Daryl Nicol hat-trick and goals from Sam Burnett and Connor Scully.

However, crucially, Cove still hold a game in hand on the Cattachs and know if they win their remaining seven fixtures they will be Highland League champions.

“We are not thinking about that at this stage,” Sheran said.

“We know there are too many dangerous games out there to be thinking like that.

“It is probably just the first of many twists and turns that are going to happen in the run-in.

“There are three teams going for it and we all have tough games to play.

“We just have to hope that we can avoid any slip-ups and keep getting the results.

“I think it will go right to the last day.

“We just have to hope that come the last day we are in the hunt and have a chance of winning it.”

Meanwhile, Sheran has revealed they have recalled left-sided player Ryan Spink from his loan spell at Keith.
