Islavale assistant boss Kevin Collins praised his “underdogs” after they shocked Dyce to win the Domino’s Pizza North Regional Cup.
The Keith outfit beat the Superleague side 2-0 to clinch the trophy at Colony Park for the first time in 10 years.
A Scott McIntosh penalty put Vale ahead on the hour before Craig Sim raced away to score five minutes later.
It was a composed performance from the Division One (West) side, who defended resolutely throughout.
And after surviving early second-half pressure, they seized their chances.
Missing seven players and manager Kenny Hendry, assistant Collins was proud of his team’s tactical execution.
He said: “We were huge underdogs but we’ve been that in the past and come through.
“I stressed that to the players but the important thing was for us to frustrate Dyce.
“Just before half time, they were all having a go at each other and I said to our players we’ve done our job.”
He added: “We were missing seven players, five of them would have started the game, so I think that’s brought them together and we fully deserved to win.”
