Fomartine United were today set to complete the signing of Nairn County striker Conor Gethins.
The 32-year-old was expected to be unveiled as United’s latest signing at North Lodge Park tonight. Irishman Gethins scored an astonishing 173 goals in only 178 appearances during his five years with Nairn. He was also twice named the Highland League’s Player of the Year, in 2013 and 2014.
Formartine boss Kris Hunter has swooped to sign Gethins after the striker revealed he was quitting Nairn in search of a “new challenge”.
Gethins is expected to be just the first of several signings made by manager Hunter over the next few weeks.
