Cove Rangers took a step towards the SPFL play-off final after winning their semi first leg with Edinburgh’s Spartan’s 4-0 at Harlaw Park.
Striker Mitch Megginson notched his 50th goal of the season, a front post header, to put Cove ahead after an at-times tetchy and hard-fought first half.
Rangers deserved to lead and John Sheran’s side’s quality shone through as Spartans fell apart after half-time.
Midfielder Harry Milne won a penalty just after the break, which Paul McManus smashed past keeper Blair Carswell, before skipper Eric Watson rose to header them three in front.
A defensive mix-up from a Daniel Park cross allowed McManus to fire in from the penalty spot after 67 minutes to make it 4-0.
Sheran’s men will attempt to set up a final meeting, and the chance to enter League Two, with Cowdenbeath in the second leg at Ainslie Park on Tuesday.
