Aberdeen-raised Shaun Maloney has joined the Belgian national side’s coaching team.
Maloney has been handed a role under boss Roberto Martinez – his former coach at Wigan Athletic – and assistant Thierry Henry.
The 47-time capped Scotland international had been coaching with Celtic’s Development League side after retiring last summer.
Derek McInnes had offered him to continue his playing career at Aberdeen.
Belgium are set to meet Scotland at Hampden Park in a friendly next Friday.
