Highland: Winning ways hope for Fraserburgh’s Young against Cove Rangers

Paul Young

Paul Young says Fraserburgh are relishing trying to get back to winning ways against Cove Rangers.

The Highland League champions are being presented with the flag prior to tomorrow’s game.

But Young and his Broch team-mates aren’t focused on that and are determined to upset the party after Wednesday’s loss on penalties to Inverurie Locos in the Irn-Bru Challenge Cup.

The midfielder said: “We’ll have to go again on Saturday, we’re facing the league champions so there would be no better way to bounce back.

“We’ve got a tough start this season and playing Cove will give us a good gauge of where we are.

“So hopefully we can get a positive result on Saturday and take it forward.

“It would be good to win, but they’ve had some good performances in the league cup and have a very strong squad with a lot of quality in it.

“We know it will be tough but we want to play against the best teams and do ourselves justice.”

Despite exiting the Challenge Cup to Locos, Young feels they can take positives from their performance in the 2-2 draw.

He added: “I thought we had the majority of the game against Inverurie.

“Overall we played quite well and it was a hard way to lose at the end on penalties.

“After they scored their second goal we had to weather the storm.

“I think we could get the ball down a bit more and pass it.

“But we were good for large spells on Wednesday.

“We need to go again on Saturday. We’re a tight group and we work hard for each other.

“That won’t change and we want to bounce back with a good result.”
