Formartine United player-manager Paul Lawson has big targets for 2018 and wants to try to set the tone for the year by beating Wick Academy tomorrow.
While winning the title this season may be out of reach for the Pitmedden side, Lawson is targeting success in the League Cup and also progression to the Scottish Cup fifth round when they face rivals Cove later this month, but firstly he is concentrating on starting the year with a win against Wick.
He said: “It’s important you start with a win to try to set the tone for the rest of the year. “I think this year there’s one more trophy for us to play for in the Highland League Cup, and that’s a target of ours.
“And in the league we are looking to build for next season. “I keep saying to the boys that we want to take the momentum into next season by having a good second half of this season.”
The Scorries are an improving side with Tom McKenna’s team taking four points from their last two games ahead of their trip to North Lodge Park.
Lawson added: “In my time at Formartine we have never had an easy game against Wick. It will be no different tomorrow.”
