Hearts have today been docked two points and fined £10,000 (£8,000 of which is suspended) for fielding an ineligible player against Cove Rangers in the Betfred Cup group stage.
The Jambos were sanctioned at an SPFL disciplinary hearing.
A sub-committee of the SPFL board charged the Tynecastle club with playing an ineligible player (Andrew Irving) in their 2-1 win against Cove on July 18.
Hearts admitted breaching SPFL rules and were deducted two points from their Betfred Cup first round group stage tally.
Although Hearts were also fined £10,000, £8,000 of that is suspended until the end of season 2019/20.
Hearts had failed to register Irving’s new deal when he signed in January.
