Cove Rangers boss John Sheran was pleased as his side showed ruthlessness to beat Turriff United 8-0 in the first round of the Highland League Cup.
Mitch Megginson and Jordan MacRae both got braces with Daniel Park, Connor Scully, Harry Milne and Jordon Brown also on the scoresheet at the Balmoral Stadium.
Sheran was pleased with the display from the Highland League champions as they moved into the second round.
He said: “We played well, I thought we moved the ball about really well.
“We scored some good goals which came from some good passing moves so I’m really pleased with the performance.
“Credit to Turriff, they came to play football and have a go.
“We did manage to create opportunities and take them.
“But they are a good young team who just need time to learn and gain experience, but there is no question we were clinical.”
Turriff manager Kris Hunter said: “I’m very disappointed, but for 30 minutes we did well and played good football.
“We let Cove get a couple of goals that were avoidable and after that Cove showed their class.
“They’ve got that many good attacking players going forward and we just couldn’t handle them defensively.
“We tried to play football out from the back, but we got punished by a very good team.
“They’ve got so much quality, cause you problems and they are the best team in the league.”
